                   Seedless watermelon was created in 1990s.Watermelon contains more lycopene than other fruits .It contains 91% of water.The outer part of watermelon will be hard and green in colour with dark green stripes whereas juicy inner part will be pink or red in colour with black colour seeds.Watermelon belongs to the family of Cucurbitaceae.It is first cultivated in southern africa.
                    In 7th century it is first cultivated in india whereas in 10th century it is cultivated in china.Watermelon is a tropical and subtropical plant which needs temperature more than 25 degrees centigrade.In 2011 global production of watermelon will be 111 million tonnes.100 grams of watermelon contain 30 calories where as Vitamin C will be 10%.It contains 91% of water and 6% sugar and very low fat.Watermelon can be used in pickles,wines,other fruit juices,salads,milkshakes etc.

How watermelon is Cultivated?



  1.  Watermelon should be grown in both tropical and nontropical seasons.
  2. It is first cultivated in african countries.Watermelon will be grown for 80 days i.e very longer period.
  3. The soil should be 70 degree temperature i.e it should be very warm at the time of planting inorder to avoid poor germination.
  4. When soil temperature is warmer we can directly sow seeds in outdoors.The soil PH should be between 6 and 6.8.
  5. If there is a little contrast between the stripes then we can say watermelon is ripen.
