Tomatoes and its benefits and effects with nutritional values

Tomatoes:

                    Whether tomato is a fruit or vegetable as it is botanically called as fruit or berry ? Let us see what are its benefits and how it is useful.

                        Tomato is an edible plant which contain lot of antioxidant,minerals,vitamins,folic acid etc.It contains more antioxidant properties compare to other food.Before 200 years tomatoes are called as poisonous fruit as it belongs to nightshade family whose species are truly poisonous.The leaves of tomato is poisonous where as fruit is not.Leaves of tomato will be in green colour whereas its flower is in yellow colour which is in pistle shape.

                  Tomatoes contain 95% of water,4% carbohydrates and 1% fat,Tomatoes contain abundant of nutrients where as vitamin C is moderate.They also contain copper,potassium,manganese,dietary fiber,niacin,vitamin E,phosphorous.

               Tomatoes are grown world wide in all temperatures as it grown in green houses which allow the production through out the year.Tomato trees grows in the height of 1-3 meters whose stem will be very weak.As the stem of tomato will be weak it lie over the ground.Tomatoes are consumed in both ways i.e raw or while cooking.It is also used in salads,dressing,pickles,juices etc.
      Tomato contains very low sugar so it is not so sweet.It is very essential item for curries which is a main course.Tomato will be in red colour or rarely in yellow colour.The production of tomatoes through out the world is 170.8 million tonnes whereas only in india its 18.7 million of tonnes.There are 7500 varieties of tomatoes will be grown through out the world.

Benefits of Tomato:

                        Tomatoes contains many nutrients including vitamin A.vitamin C,vitamin B,folic acid,lycopene,beta-carotene,ALA,lutein etc.All these nutrients contains antioxidant properties which will be very beneficial for our health.

1.Helps in fighting with cancer:

                     Tomatoes contain vitamin C which stops the formation of cancer causing free radicals.The risk of cancer will starts with chronic oxidation stress and chronic unwanted inflammation,inorder to regulates this antioxidant is essential.Tomatoes contains lycopene which is fairly documented in reduction of breast cancer along with prostate cancer.

2.Controls the blood pressure:

                     Tomatoes are rich source of potassium which helps to keep the blood pressure normal.It helps in reducing the death risk upto 20%.It also contains powerful vitamins and minerals which keeps safeguarding our body.

3.Helps to reduce cardiovascular: 

                      Tomatoes contain potassium,vitamin C,choline,fiber.The choline and fiber which is present in tomato helps in keeping the heart healthy.As tomatoes contains antioxidant properties and it regulates the fats in to bloodstream,it helps to prevent cardiovascular problems.The heart and lungs are responsible for taking oxygen from heart  in to lungs and circulating to the body.In order to keep oxygen circulate in to the body antioxidants are very much important.

4.Reduce diabetics:

                       Tomatoes contain rich source of fiber which helps to reduce type-1 diabetics.Cherry tomatoes contain higher amount of nutrients compared to normal tomatoes.These cherry tomatoes will helps in reducing type-2 diabetics.Tomatoes will also helps in improving the insulin,blood sugar level content in body.

5.It supports bone strength:

                               Lypocene which is present in tomato will helps in the bone strengthening.Studies shows that lypocene in particular protects and stimulates osteoblast which is very much essential for bone buliding cell.Lypocene an antioxidant not only helps in bone strengthening but also turn the tomatoes in to red colour and gives taste.Tomatoes which are green in colour helps to bulid strong muscles and bones and reduce the fat.

6.Prevent blood cloths:

            The researchers suggested lycopene which will not only have ability to attack free radicals but also reduce cholestrol in body,improve immune system,and prevent blood from clothing.Blocking of blood in heart will produce heart attack which leads to death.so consuming lycopene rich food is very essential to eradicate heart problems.
                        

Effects of tomatoes:

  • Consuming tomatoes which contains beta-blockers and potassium will effect the heart disease people as it interfere with medications.
  • Tomatoes should be consumed in moderate way as it form kidney stones which is very harmful.
  • Tomatoes are highly acidic,consuming too much tomatoes will have gastroesophageal disease and eartburn.So tomatoes should be consumed in moderately.
  • Tomato leaves are poisonous.Consuming tomato leaf will even lead to death.It also cause vomiting,diarrhea,throat infection etc.
  • The environmental working group cherry tomatoes contains high level of chemical so we need to consume organic tomatoes which are good for health.
                          Tomatoes should be washed neatly before consuming it,as it contains pesticides which will harmful for health.While storing tomatoes it should not be washed as it will spoil.Tomatoes should keep best unwashed in room temperature and out of direct sunlight.It is recommended not to wash tomatoes as it will spoil the taste or loose its flavours.
